About those Neighbors

In internet, Lapara, Weekend update on March 20, 2020 at 4:33 pm

I had these neighbors.  They had a horse farm and a DFS farm.  Scripts went above 7000 in the sim.  Trains wouldn’t run on time.  I had to retime the entire sensor network.  Bus service had to stop.  It took me a while to figure out the cause, I thought it was Second Life, but then why does Lapara work so well?

They abandoned onto the next sim.  Everything went back to normal.  Other people abandoned.

Then one day, they came back.  They bought the entire strip.  I’m grateful that there is life, however it’s a couple municipal buildings and a loading dock.  But mainly, it’s market stalls.

Laggy Market Stalls.

And a puppy mill.

Scripts are increasing by 100 per day in the load.  I can’t even turn a scooter.

This sim performance meter never goes to the top.  I have never seen one of these measure such poor performance.  Sometimes it even turns yellow whilst I just stand and stare at it.

Of Prims lost, and Prims found

In Lapara, Weekend update on March 4, 2020 at 4:08 pm

Sometimes you rez an object.  You can’t find it.  Did it rez?  Is it somewhere you can’t find?  In a wall, in the ground?

Imagine having a sim for 10 years.  How much stuff do you think can be lost?

Recently, While looking in the sky, I found an old toy helicopter that I rarely get to play with.  29 Prims.  This thing was 500 feet higher from where I would normally use it!

Last month some unused C4 was discovered under a park.

I wonder just how much other stuff lurks behind the next wall

Construction goes on

We just need to rip up the old floors now, but the rain is prolonging work to the new lobby.

First rain in town – visitors vehicle flips

In Lapara, Weekend update on September 6, 2019 at 3:48 pm

After the first real rain in 9 years fell on the town, it was discovered someones ATV had flipped over.   This demonstrates the awesome power of mesh and the physics engine.

LRP Update

In clownskis, Lapara, Weekend update on July 26, 2019 at 2:24 pm

Work continues at a slower pace on the Lapara Restoration project.  But a few items to note.

New pavers were installed on Clownski Way, and surrounding area.

In almost 10 years, construction has come full circle.  First we had prims.  Then we had some sculpties (some of the older tracks still use sculpts).  Mesh came in claiming to be fancy and perfect – after the announcement panic.   Now, thanks to image layers, we’re working our way back to prims.  Some of the sidewalks and roads are mesh, but only some.

Viaduct Blvd.  The tracks and intersection still needs work.

And the most exciting announcement:

The 4th oldest building in town is getting a new lobby!  The equipment is being delivered for construction.

Afterwards, Foxglove Parkway will likely be redone again.  Although from some angles it is a great photographic place, we still have about 4 configurations left to make it more peaceful.

But until then, take a summer vacation in the national forest!

LRP update; and system maintenance

In Lapara, Weekend update on May 10, 2019 at 5:25 pm

The Lapara Restoration Project is going fabulously.  The town is on schedule to be completely spruced up in time for the 10 year anniversary!!

Since there is a grid-wide maintenance project scheduled over the course of Monday through Friday, we will probably take a vacation from any major work.

Therefore, here is a project update.

We’ve been going texture crazy!  The hotel has new floors put in the lobby, and the ceiling has been fixed.

A brand new pavilion in Astarte had its brand new roof replaced.  We changed it from mesh to a prim.  32 prim savings.

Clownski’s received new tile!

And we’re working hard on new roads.  Major street closures will take place over the next few months.

Fire Hydrant Beautification

In Lapara, Weekend update on April 15, 2019 at 6:00 am

The FHB project is progressing wonderfully.  13 hydrants have been identified in town to get a new paint coat of paint.  Unfortunately, there should be about 16 hydrants for a town of this size.  Therefore, 3 new hydrants will need to be acquired.

Our hydrants are modeled after those found in Philadelphia.

Before and After:

We recently acquired another version of hydrant, but it’s radically different.  Nice materials though:

I’m not sure if I should replace a portion, all of them, or in just a certain area.  Look for the final vote in 2021.

Extensive renovations have been made to upgrade the existing trail system of the highline park.

The old trail was disposed of leaving a blank space.

Aftwards, the final sod and path is laid.  This grass and dirt has special properties allowing for a seamless magic season change.
